It is also known as the Phoenix Church.〔(Phoenix Church ) from the Keweenaw County Historical Society, retrieved 8/11/09〕 The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.〔 == History == The Church of the Assumption was built in 1858 as St. Mary's Catholic Church〔 in Cliff.〔 In 1899, the church was dismantled and reconstructed in its present location in Phoenix;〔 the name was changed to the Church of the Assumption.〔 Masses were held in the church until 1957.
